APCO Road Maps

During the heyday of the APCO Oil Corporation, the company provided roadmaps wholesale to the gas station owners who wanted to stock them. Maps were published primarily for the state territories where the APCO Oil company actively sold gasoline, oil and other products.

The maps would feature the "APCO Petroleum Products" logo prominently on the front covers, matching the signage that was used on the affiliated gas stations.

Use of the maps would help to reinforce the brand name recognition, and help to encourage consumers to select APCO stations when driving on roadtrips, as well as when in their hometowns.

The back covers of the maps frequently featured a blank area, as shown in this example APCO map for Iowa State. The blank areas allowed APCO company service station owners and operators to co-brand with APCO on the maps if they chose, by having their own service station names and locations stamped, silk-screened, or printed on the blank parts.

A number of different styles of maps were created over time, and one may see the changes over time as the logo was updated.
